Please read these Terms carefully before using our Services. By accessing or using our website or Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our Services.

Acceptance of Terms

By using our website, booking appointments, registering for events, joining our community, or purchasing any services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.

If you are using our Services on behalf of an organization or business, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify, update, or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you through:

  • Email notification to registered users
  • Announcement in our community forum or newsletter

Your continued use of our Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

Eligibility and Account Registration

Age Requirement:

You must be at least 18 years old to use our Services, book coaching appointments, register for events, or create an account. By using our Services, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

Account Registration:

Some Services require you to create an account. When you register, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or contain false, misleading, or fraudulent information.

Services We Provide

Sisters Code offers judgment-free coaching, technical assistance, workshops, community support, and resources for women 45+ exploring technology and entrepreneurship.

1:1 Coaching and Consulting Services

We provide personalized coaching sessions with industry experts including:

  • Tech and Business Coaching with Marlin Williams
  • Food Business Consulting with Chef Ederique Goudia
  • Brand Strategy Coaching with Morgan Threattt

Booking and Scheduling:

  • Appointments are booked through our online scheduling system
  • You will receive a confirmation email with Zoom link and session details
  • Sessions are typically 25-60 minutes depending on the service booked
  • Rescheduling must be requested at least 24 hours in advance

Coach Discretion:

Our coaches reserve the right to decline or terminate sessions if they determine the client's needs are outside their expertise, if the client is disrespectful or abusive, or for any other reasonable cause.

Workshops, Events, and Training Programs

We offer workshops, training sessions, and community events including:

  • AI for Aunties workshops
  • Tech training programs
  • Business development workshops
  • Networking events
  • Speaker series and panels

Registration:

  • Registration is required for most events
  • Some events are free; others require payment
  • Registration confirmation is sent via email
  • Event details (date, time, location, format) are subject to change with notice

Event Cancellation:

We reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or modify events due to unforeseen circumstances, low enrollment, speaker availability, or other reasonable causes. In case of cancellation, registered participants will be notified and offered a refund or credit toward future events.

Community Forum and Online Resources

Our community forum provides a space for members to ask questions, share experiences, and support each other.

Community Guidelines:

By participating in our forum, you agree to:

  • Be respectful, kind, and supportive of other members
  • Keep discussions relevant to business, technology, and entrepreneurship
  • Respect confidentiality and privacy of other members
  • Refrain from spam, self-promotion without context, or commercial solicitation
  • Follow our Code of Conduct (posted in the forum)

Moderation:

We reserve the right to monitor, edit, or remove content that violates these Terms or community guidelines. Repeated violations may result in suspension or termination of forum access.

Website and Digital Content

Our website provides:

  • Educational blog posts and articles
  • Resource libraries and guides
  • Videos and multimedia content
  • Event calendars and registration

All content is provided for informational purposes. We strive for accuracy but do not guarantee that all information is complete, current, or error-free.

Payment Terms and Refund Policy

Coaching and Appointment Fees

Payment Required:

Payment is required at the time of booking for all paid coaching sessions. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods as displayed on our booking system.

Pricing:

  • Coaching session fees are displayed at the time of booking
  • Prices are in USD unless otherwise stated
  • Prices are subject to change with notice
  • Special promotions and discounts may be offered at our discretion

Late Arrival and No-Shows:

  • If you arrive late, your session will end at the scheduled time (no extension)
  • No-shows (failure to attend without 24-hour notice) forfeit the full session fee
  • Repeated no-shows may result in loss of booking privileges

Event Registration and Tickets

Free Events:

Registration is required even for free events. Failure to attend does not result in a fee, but repeated no-shows may affect future registration eligibility.

Paid Events:

Payment is required at registration. Event fees are non-refundable except as described in our refund policy below.

Refunds and Cancellations

Coaching Session Refunds:

  • Cancellations made 24+ hours in advance: Full refund or credit toward future session
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance: No refund
  • No-shows: No refund
  • Technical issues on our side: Full refund or free reschedule

Event Refunds:

  • Cancellations made 7+ days before event: Full refund
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before event: No refund, but may transfer registration to another attendee with our approval
  • Event canceled by Sisters Code: Full refund or credit toward future event

Refund Processing:

Approved refunds are processed within 7-10 business days to the original payment method. Contact info@sisters-code.org for refund requests.

Payment Methods and Security

We use secure third-party payment processors (such as Stripe) to handle transactions. We do not store full credit card information on our servers. By making a payment, you agree to the payment processor's terms and conditions.

Sales Tax:

Sales tax may be applied to purchases where required by law based on your location.

User Conduct and Prohibited Activities

By using our Services, you agree NOT to:

  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
  • Use our Services for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely claim affiliation with Sisters Code
  • Harass, abuse, threaten, or discriminate against other users or staff
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any harmful code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, accounts, or networks
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from our website without permission
  • Spam or send unsolicited commercial messages to other users
  • Post content that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, violent, or infringes on intellectual property
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of our Services or servers

We reserve the right to investigate violations, cooperate with law enforcement, and take appropriate action including suspension, termination, and legal proceedings.

When you post content to our community forum, leave comments, or submit materials to us (collectively, "User Content"), you:

  • Retain ownership of your User Content
  • Grant Sisters Code a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute your User Content in connection with our Services
  • Represent that you own or have permission to post your User Content and that it does not violate any third-party rights

We do not claim ownership of your User Content, but we may use it to operate, promote, and improve our Services.

Removal of Content:

We reserve the right to remove or disable any User Content that violates these Terms, our community guidelines, or applicable law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sisters Code, its founders, employees, coaches, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of our Services, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of revenue, profits, or business opportunities
  • Loss of data or information
  • Cost of substitute services
  • Personal injury or property damage
  • Emotional distress or reputational harm

Aggregate Liability Cap:

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from your use of our Services shall not exceed the amount you paid to Sisters Code in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.

Exceptions:

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion or limitation of liability for certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sisters Code, its founders, employees, coaches, contractors, affiliates, and partners from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights

This indemnification obligation survives termination of these Terms and your use of our Services.

Termination and Suspension

Termination by You:

You may stop using our Services at any time. To close your account, contact us at info@sisters-code.org.

Termination or Suspension by Us:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to our Services, with or without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms or our community guidelines
  • You engage in fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful conduct
  • You fail to pay fees owed
  • We discontinue the Services or a portion of the Services
  • Required by law or legal process

Effect of Termination:

Upon termination, your right to use our Services immediately ceases. We may delete your account and data, though some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

Survival:

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limitations, indemnification, and dispute resolution) shall survive.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

Governing Law:

These Terms and any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or your use of our Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Jurisdiction:

You agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Wayne County, Michigan, for resolution of any disputes.

Informal Resolution:

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at info@sisters-code.org to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will work in good faith to resolve disputes amicably.

Arbitration (Optional):

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, either party may elect binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). Arbitration shall take place in Detroit, Michigan, or remotely by mutual agreement. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding.

Class Action Waiver:

You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis only. You waive any right to participate in class actions, class arbitrations, or representative proceedings.

Exceptions:

Either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property or confidential information without waiving the right to arbitration for other claims.

Severability and Entire Agreement

Severability:

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

Entire Agreement:

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sisters Code regarding your use of our Services and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, and understandings, whether written or oral.

No Waiver:

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or our right to enforce it in the future.

Assignment:

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms to an affiliate, successor, or acquirer without your consent.
