How to Post Effectively

Before You Post

Search first: Use the search bar to see if your question has already been answered.

Choose the right category: Post in the most relevant category to reach the right audience.

Write a clear title: Use specific, descriptive titles like "Need help pricing my coaching services" instead of "Help please!"

Writing Your Post

Provide context:

• Describe your situation or challenge
• Share what you've already tried
• Explain what you're hoping to achieve

Be specific:

• Include relevant details
• Ask clear questions
• Break long posts into paragraphs

Be authentic:

• Share your real experiences
• It's okay to be vulnerable
• You don't have to have all the answers

Example of a Good Post

Title: "How do I set prices for my first consulting services?"

Body:

"Hi everyone! I'm launching a marketing consulting business and struggling to set my rates. I have 10 years of corporate marketing experience but this is my first time freelancing. I'm in Detroit and targeting small businesses. Should I charge hourly or project-based? What's a fair rate for someone just starting out? I've researched online but getting conflicting advice. Thanks for any insights!"

Community Standards

Be Respectful

• Treat all members with kindness and respect
• Disagree without being disagreeable
• Assume positive intent
• Apologize if you make a mistake

Be Supportive

• Celebrate others' wins
• Offer encouragement during challenges
• Share helpful resources
• Welcome new members

Be Honest

• Share real experiences, not just highlights
• Admit when you don't know something
• Correct yourself if you're wrong
• Be transparent about affiliations

Respect Privacy

• Don't share private messages or emails publicly
• Don't share other members' personal information
• Keep coaching session details confidential
• Ask permission before sharing someone's story

What's Not Allowed

Harassment & Discrimination

No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.

Spam & Self-Promotion

You can share your business or services when relevant, but don't spam the forum with promotional posts. Limit promotional posts to once per week and always add value.

Misinformation

Don't spread false or misleading information, especially about health, legal, or financial matters. Cite sources when possible.

Inappropriate Content

No explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or content promoting illegal activities, self-harm, or dangerous behaviors.

Consequences

First violation: Friendly warning via private message

Second violation: Formal warning and temporary posting restriction

Serious violations: Temporary suspension (7-30 days) or permanent ban

We reserve the right to remove posts and suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

Reporting Issues

If you see content that violates these guidelines:

Click the "Report" button on the post or comment

Or email: info@sisters-code.org with subject line "Forum Report"

Include:

• Link to the post
• Description of the issue
• Why you're reporting it

All reports are reviewed within 24-48 hours and kept confidential.
